Step 01 · 20 min
Pick your ghostwriting niche
LinkedIn ghostwriting is most valuable when you're writing for someone in a niche you understand. Choose an industry you know or are genuinely curious about: SaaS founders, real estate investors, healthcare executives, solo consultants — any group that wants an audience but hates writing.
Use Claude to test whether the niche is viable: *"What do LinkedIn posts written for [niche] executives typically cover? What topics get the most engagement? What tone usually works — personal stories, data-driven takes, or contrarian opinions?"*
The narrower you go, the easier to get clients. "LinkedIn ghostwriter for SaaS founders" is easier to sell than "LinkedIn ghostwriter".
Step 02 · 1 hr
Build 5 sample posts with Claude
Clients need to see you can write before they hire you. Make 5 sample posts written as if you're writing for a real founder in your niche: *"Write a LinkedIn post for a [niche] founder sharing [specific insight]. First-person voice. Under 200 words. Hook on line 1. End with a question to drive comments. No hashtag spam."*
Cover 3 different styles: a personal story ("what I learned from..."), a data take ("most people don't know that..."), and a contrarian opinion ("unpopular take: ..."). Clients will ask for all three.
Save these in a Google Doc titled "Sample Posts — [Your Niche]". This becomes your portfolio.
Pro tip
These are samples of your editorial process — you wrote the prompt, chose the angle, and edited the output. That's the work.
Step 03 · 30 min
Optimize your own LinkedIn profile
Your LinkedIn profile is your proof of concept. If you can't write a compelling profile for yourself, why would a client pay you to do it for them?
Use Claude: *"Rewrite my LinkedIn headline and About section for a LinkedIn ghostwriter targeting [niche] founders. Current headline: [yours]. Lead with outcome, not job title. Under 200 words for the About."*
Follow the formula: I help [who] [achieve what] via [how]. Example: "I write LinkedIn content for SaaS founders who want 10K followers without logging in every day."
Step 04 · 20 min
Write your outreach message
Good outreach is specific, short, and shows you did 10 seconds of research. Use Claude: *"Write a LinkedIn connection request for a ghostwriter reaching out to a [niche] founder. Mention something specific about their recent content. Offer something useful. No pitch until they reply. Under 50 words."*
After they accept, follow up in 3 days: *"Loved your post on [specific topic]. Here's a riff on that same idea I think your audience would engage with — no strings attached. If you're ever looking for consistent content, happy to chat."*
Lead with value, then ask. The free post riff is your most effective door-opener.
Step 05 · 2 hrs
Reach out to 50 target profiles
Search LinkedIn for "[niche] founder", "[niche] CEO", or "[niche] consultant". Filter to 2nd connections. Look for profiles with fewer than 5,000 followers and recent posts — they're actively trying to grow.
Don't send 50 identical messages. Personalize each one. Claude helps: paste their most recent post and ask *"Write a 1-line observation about this post that's genuinely interesting, not just flattery."*
Send 20 per day over 3 days. Expect 5–10 replies. That's enough pipeline to close your first client.
Pro tip
Track every outreach in a spreadsheet: name, sent date, reply, outcome. You should always have 20 conversations in flight.
Step 06 · 2 hrs
Close your first client and deliver week one
Keep the sales call short. Ask 3 questions: what's your goal for LinkedIn, how much are you posting now, and do you have existing content I can read to understand your voice?
Your starter package: 3 posts per week, $500/mo. That's $167 per post. Position it as "done-for-you LinkedIn presence" not "content writing".
For your first delivery, ask Claude to voice-match: *"Here are 5 examples of [client's] writing. Write a LinkedIn post for them about [topic] in their voice. Match their sentence length, level of formality, and word choice."* Then run the final draft through [Grammarly](https://www.grammarly.com) before sending.
Pro tip
Deliver the first week's posts on day 3, not day 7. A client who sees speed and quality in the first week renews without hesitation.

Bottom line
Ship it.
LinkedIn ghostwriting has one of the fastest paths to first income of any AI-powered freelance model. No audience required, no product to build, no complicated tech. You need a Claude account, a LinkedIn profile, and the willingness to reach out to 50 people in a week. Most ghostwriters land their first client within the first 20 conversations. The ceiling is as high as you want to take it — $5K/mo is realistic within 6 months with 5–6 retainer clients.
