Most "review" sites are marketing departments with a byline. Rankings are auctioned, affiliate deals shape the editorial angle, and the top result usually belongs to whoever paid the most to be there.
ToolNav is an independent media site covering AI tools, hosting, SaaS, VPN, online courses, and productivity software — built for solo builders and small teams buying these tools with real money and real deadlines. We don't accept paid placements. We don't take vendor sponsorships. No one can buy a position in our rankings.

Hi, I'm Shaun. I run ToolNav with my partner Sher Min, and I've been building and shipping AI-assisted projects since 2023. I started this journey focused on passive income — the world of work is changing fast and full-time jobs are starting to shrink, so I've been building my own small income streams as a hedge. With AI advancing as quickly as it has, I'm going all in on this approach. ToolNav exists because I was tired of paid-ranking review sites where the rankings didn't match how the tools actually work in practice.
Sher Min

Sher Min brings 12 years of technical SEO experience to ToolNav — site architecture, schema markup, crawlability, and the work that makes content findable for the people who actually need it. She's an avid AI user herself across writing, research, and productivity, which shapes which tool categories we cover and how we test them. Her role on the site is editorial standards and making sure every review answers what real searchers are looking for.
How We Review
Every review on ToolNav is grounded in hands-on testing where practical, public pricing and feature sources we re-verify on a 90-day cadence, and our own operator experience using AI tools daily. Where we haven't personally used a tool at depth, we say so and rely on direct vendor documentation, user community feedback, and head-to-head comparison testing.
How We Make Money
When you click a link and make a purchase, we earn a commission. The price you pay is identical whether you use our link or go direct — the vendor pays the commission from their margin, not yours.
We do not accept sponsored posts, paid reviews, vendor-funded placements, or any arrangement that gives a company editorial influence.
Our Standards
- —Rankings are based on research merit. Commission rates do not affect them.
- —Affiliate relationships are disclosed on every page where affiliate links appear.
- —Pros and cons are both published. A review with no downsides is not a review.
- —When a product changes materially — pricing, features, terms — we update the review.
